Pre Paid Connections

International delegates that require any Pre Paid connections to be used while in Sri Lanka are encouraged to visit the Mobitel counter at the Arrival Lounge of the airport. Further information of the services available here

Flights and Transfers

Booking of flights will be the sole responsibility of participants.

Flight Discounts from SriLankan Airlines

As the Official Carrier of the Asia Microfinance Forum 2010, SriLankan Airlines is pleased to offer a 15% discount on the prevailing market fare for economy class tickets to all participants travelling to Sri Lanka for the AMF 2010 from any of their online points.

To avail of this discount, participants will need to present at the time of ticketing their confirmation of registration letter which is provided to each delegate as proof of their participation at the event. This discount is only valid on flights operated by SriLankan Airlines.

All taxes related to tickets should be borne by the passengers and ticketing should be done directly through one of SriLankan Airlines’ offices (not through agents).

Visa Information

International participants are required to secure a passport with a validity of 6 months from the date of arrival in Sri Lanka. For delegates from a country where Sri Lankan Embassy is not available, kindly inform us as soon as possible through our email: amf2010-bwtp@aitkenspence.lk so that we may be able to assist you with your visa application.

General Information

Climate
Sri Lanka enjoys a tropical climate with varying temperatures according to location. Coastal or upland areas benefit from cool mountain or sea breezes all year round. Monsoon season is between May to September in the South & West and October to April in the North & East of the country. These monsoons give Sri Lanka its only seasons as it is located so near to the Equator. Temperatures average 27°C (80°F) in Colombo and 16°C (61°F) in Nuwara Eliya, which is on higher ground, all year round.

Money matters
Purchasing of commodities is being priced in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR) although some establishments also do accept U.S. dollars and credit cards as well.

Electricity
Electricity in Sri Lanka is 230 volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second. A voltage converter will be needed while travelling to Sri Lanka if the device does not accept 230 volts
