Invest Asia: Panel Discussion and Market Place

Registration for Invest Asia has been extended to 9th September 2010 for both MFIs and Investors. MFIs can now register for the reduced price of $400 USD. 

 

The ‘Invest Asia: Panel Discussion and Market Place’ to be held on the 14th October 2010 and is hosted by the The BWTP Network and the South Asia Microfinance Network (SAMN) with funding support from Citi.

The BWTP Network and SAMN, two of the leading regional microfinance networks covering 16 countries in Asia, are organisng the ‘Invest Asia: Panel Session and Market Place’ to capture the investment landscape in Asia in terms of challenges and opportunity and to provide a platform for investor and MFIs for business linkages.

The ‘Invest Asia’ event will consist of:

1. Panel Discussion ‘Investment Landscape in Asia’ (11:00 – 12:15)

A 75-minute moderated panel discussion - “Investment Landscape in Asia” - will focus on the current investment climate in Asia, including a discussion of challenges and opportunities for both investors and MFIs. The discussions will be led by three distinguished speakers and event will be open to all AMF 2010 participants and no separate registration is required for this. Speaker details will be available in AMF 2010 agenda soon.

2. Investment Market Place (13:30 – 18:30)

A moderated market place for Investors and MFIs to meet and forge business linkages. The market place will have over 15 International Investors focusing in Asia and a diversified pool of approximately 30 high-potential MFIs from Asia.

Moderated Market Place

The Market Place will be moderated to ensure that Investors have the chance to meet one to one with a diversified and investible pool of MFIs from Asia matching their investment preferences in terms of investment type, size, tenure, country, social and financial criterion, risk appetite and expectation of financial and social return.

The organisers will ensure that MFIs with high potential to attract investment are given access to the market place. The MFIs will have qualified access to the event, based on an Investment Potential Evaluation conducted by a Selection Committee consisting of the BWTP Network, SAMN and Industry representatives.

Please note, that both MFI and Investor will also have ample opportunity around the Asia Microfinance Forum 2010 for additional interaction.

Access to relevant information

Both Investors and MFIs participating at the Market Place will be provided with all relevant information on all participants prior to the event to allow for thorough preparation prior too meetings and to have more useful and effective interaction during the event. Investors will be provided with a copy of MFI ‘Pitch-pages’ and other relevant documentation a week before the Market Place and each MFI would receive profile of participating Investors.

Access to the Asia Microfinance Forum 2010

The Asia Microfinance Forum is the region’s most important microfinance event and the registration fee for the Invest Asia event includes access to the Forum. Participants will have access to all conference sessions and conference materials. Event Logistics Facilities

The market place will be organised in a separate hall, dedicated only for registered Investors and MFIs. Each participating Investor will have a stand with high table and three chairs for meeting. Investors will be encouraged to put banner or kakemono, distribution material at the stand if they wish so. Organisers will facilitate the meeting schedule, organisation of the workshop and all publications. 

Workshop for MFIs

Prior to the event, a workshop organized in conjunction with Symbiotics for the participating MFIs on Investment Relationship Management on evening of 13th October, 2010.
